Claudian vs SystemSculpt: Claude Code in Obsidian Compared (2026)
On this page
Pick Claudian if you want Claude Code, Codex or another coding agent in Obsidian with its deepest features: six agents to choose from, inline edits with a word-level diff, Projects with shared memory, and agents that message each other, free on desktop. Pick SystemSculpt if you want AI chat that edits your notes on your phone as well as your desktop, plus audio transcription, YouTube-to-note, PDF conversion and related notes, with chats and transcripts saved as Markdown in your vault.
Both run your own installed Claude Code or Codex in your vault on desktop, free, with no plan from the plugin. We make SystemSculpt. Everything below about Claudian comes from its own README, docs and plugin listing, linked at the end. Facts checked November 3, 2026.

Where Claudian fits better
Claudian is built for people who already use coding agents. It runs six of them, so you can switch between Claude Code, Codex, Grok Build, OpenCode, Pi and DeepSeek Harness without leaving Obsidian. Inline Edit changes text right in a note and shows a word-level diff first. Projects group sessions under shared instructions and a memory file the agents keep current, and agents can read, message or start other sessions.
It costs nothing and needs no account of its own, it sends no telemetry, and it is widely used: about 2.6 million downloads against SystemSculpt's 38,809. Slash commands, Skills and each agent's MCP servers work as they do in the agent itself.
Choose Claudian if you want more than Claude Code and Codex, the fullest agent features, or a plugin that is free with nothing to buy.
Where SystemSculpt fits better
SystemSculpt goes beyond the agent chat. It records voice notes and meetings in Obsidian, transcribes audio files to Markdown or SRT, turns a YouTube video into a note with a timestamped transcript, converts PDFs and images to Markdown, and lists related notes in its Similar Notes panel.
It also works on your phone. Claudian is desktop only, because its agents run on your computer. SystemSculpt's chat runs hosted SystemSculpt AI on mobile and can create and edit notes there. On desktop, your own Claude Code or Codex needs no SystemSculpt plan; hosted AI is $9 a month or $90 a year.
Choose SystemSculpt if you want AI on your notes from your phone, or transcription, YouTube and PDF notes and related notes next to Claude Code or Codex in one plugin.
Can you use both?
Yes. They install side by side and work on the same Markdown files. You could keep Claudian for agent work on desktop and use SystemSculpt for audio, PDFs and chat on your phone.
Questions
Is Claudian free? Yes. Claudian is free and MIT licensed. It needs at least one coding agent installed, such as Claude Code or Codex, and that agent's subscription or API provider.
Does Claudian work on mobile? No. Claudian is desktop only, on macOS, Linux and Windows. SystemSculpt chat works on mobile with hosted SystemSculpt AI; its Claude Code and Codex are desktop only too.
Which plugin runs more agents? Claudian: Claude Code, Codex, Grok Build, OpenCode, Pi and DeepSeek Harness. SystemSculpt runs Claude Code and Codex, plus its own hosted SystemSculpt AI.
Do I need a Claude subscription for either one? For Claude Code, you need what Claude Code needs: a Claude plan or pay-as-you-go API access. Neither plugin charges for running it. SystemSculpt's hosted AI needs no Claude account.
What does SystemSculpt cost? It's free to install, and desktop chat with your own Claude Code or Codex needs no SystemSculpt plan. Eligible new accounts can claim 500 one-time starter credits for hosted AI with no card. Paid plans are $9 a month or $90 a year.
Do I keep my notes if I stop using either plugin? Yes. Your notes stay Markdown files in your vault either way. SystemSculpt's chats, transcripts and converted documents are Markdown notes too, so they stay if you cancel or uninstall.
