Notion AI vs SystemSculpt: Team Workspace AI or AI in Obsidian (2026)
On this page
Pick Notion AI if your team already works in Notion and you want AI across shared pages, databases, meetings and connected apps like Slack and Google Drive. Pick SystemSculpt if you keep your notes in Obsidian as Markdown files on your own device and want an AI that chats with them and edits them, using your own Claude Code or Codex on desktop or hosted SystemSculpt AI on desktop and mobile, plus audio transcription.
They are different kinds of product. Notion AI is built into Notion, a cloud workspace. SystemSculpt is a plugin for Obsidian, a free notes app, so using it means using Obsidian. We make SystemSculpt. Everything below about Notion AI comes from Notion's own pricing, product and help pages, linked at the end. Facts and prices checked November 3, 2026.

Where Notion AI fits better
Notion AI is built for teams. Its agent works across everything a workspace shares: it can create and edit pages and databases, autofill database properties, and answer from Slack, Google Drive and GitHub through Enterprise Search. Custom Agents run recurring work for the whole team, such as answering questions in Slack or routing tasks. AI Meeting Notes records and summarizes meetings where the team already keeps its docs.
Notion also runs in a browser and on Windows, Mac, iOS and Android, with real-time editing, permissions and sharing that Obsidian doesn't try to match.
Each Business member gets 1,500 Standard credits and 500 Select credits a month. Business costs $20 a seat a month billed yearly or $24 monthly. On Free and Plus, Notion AI is a limited trial.
Choose Notion AI if your team works in Notion, you want AI over shared docs and connected apps, or you need meeting notes and agents that the whole workspace can use.
Where SystemSculpt fits better
SystemSculpt is for one person's notes, kept as Markdown files in an Obsidian vault on your own device. Its chat reads the notes you attach or allow and writes back as files: on desktop through your own Claude Code or Codex with no SystemSculpt plan, or through hosted SystemSculpt AI on desktop and mobile. It also records voice notes and meetings, transcribes audio files to Markdown or SRT, turns a YouTube video into a note with a timestamped transcript, and converts PDFs to Markdown.
It costs less for one person. SystemSculpt is $9 a month or $90 a year, and $0 if you only use your own Claude Code or Codex. Notion AI needs a Business seat at $20 a month billed yearly.
Choose SystemSculpt if you work alone or keep personal notes in Obsidian, want your notes as plain files you own, and want AI chat that edits them, with transcription, on desktop and mobile.
Can you use both?
Yes. Many people keep team docs in Notion and personal notes in Obsidian. Notion exports pages as Markdown, and Obsidian's official Importer plugin brings a Notion export into a vault. If you are still choosing between the two apps themselves, read Obsidian vs Notion.
Questions
Is Notion AI free? Not fully. Notion's Free and Plus plans include a limited trial of Notion AI. Full Notion AI comes with the Business plan at $20 a seat a month billed yearly, or $24 monthly, with 1,500 Standard and 500 Select credits per member each month.
Does Notion AI work with Obsidian notes? No. Notion AI works on pages in your Notion workspace, files you upload to it and the apps you connect. Obsidian notes are Markdown files on your device. SystemSculpt is an AI that works inside Obsidian.
Can SystemSculpt edit my notes like Notion Agent edits pages? Yes. SystemSculpt's chat creates and edits notes in your vault. New chats start in Auto, where hosted AI creates and edits without asking and asks before moving or deleting. Ask mode asks before every change.
Is SystemSculpt good for a team? It is built for one person's vault. For a team that edits the same docs live, with permissions and shared agents, Notion fits better.
What does SystemSculpt cost? It's free to install, and desktop chat with your own Claude Code or Codex needs no SystemSculpt plan. Eligible new accounts can claim 500 one-time starter credits for hosted AI with no card. Paid plans are $9 a month or $90 a year.
Do I keep my notes if I stop using either one? With SystemSculpt, yes: your notes stay Markdown files in your vault, and its chats, transcripts and converted documents are Markdown notes too. With Notion, your pages live in Notion's cloud, and you can export them as Markdown, HTML or CSV.
