Settings reference
Each tab in SystemSculpt’s settings pane groups related options. Use this guide to jump straight to the controls you need.
Tabs at a glance
Overview & Setup
License validation, server URL, provider toggles, and quick diagnostics live here.
- •The Activate button checks your license or API key and surfaces any issues immediately.
- •Advanced mode exposes MCP approvals, custom providers, and additional controls.
- •The feedback link composes an email draft with environment details for support.
Model settings
Pick default models for chat, titles, and transcription across every provider you enable.
- •Chat defaults update the model new conversations use by default.
- •Model pickers list every managed, custom, or local provider you have set up.
- •Title and transcription defaults share the same picker for consistency.
Chat
Configure streaming behaviour, composer options, markdown rendering, and slash command visibility.
- •Toggle whether new chats open in agent mode or standard mode.
- •Control how streaming messages render markdown, code blocks, and tables.
- •Enable or hide slash commands as needed for your workspace.
Files & Backup
Control where chats, recordings, prompts, attachments, and extractions are stored.
- •Defaults include folders like
SystemSculpt/Chats
, which you can customise at any time. - •The plugin creates missing folders on startup so exports never fail silently.
- •Automatic backups use the directories you set here for safe storage.
Embeddings
Enable vector indexing, choose a provider/model, and tune processing limits.
- •The rebuild action refreshes vectors for the currently selected provider and model.
- •Settings capture which provider and namespace fuel the Similar Notes panel.
- •Rate limit controls decide how quickly background jobs work through the vault.
Recording & transcription
Toggle auto-transcription, clean output, preferred microphone, and custom endpoints.
- •Recorder toggles apply the next time you start or stop a capture.
- •Custom endpoints let you route transcripts to your own API or local server.
- •“Keep recordings after transcription” leaves
.wav
files in your recordings folder.
System prompts
Manage preset versus file-based prompts, agent defaults, and prompt directories.
- •Point the plugin at a folder of custom prompts or stick with the bundled presets.
- •Prompts you save here appear in chat exports and the template picker.
- •Choose whether new chats use the latest saved prompt or a fixed preset.
Templates & titles
Maintain prompt templates and title generation preferences.
- •Template folders feed the template picker so you can reuse prompts quickly.
- •Title generation options decide how chats and exports are named.
- •Post-processing prompts include sensible defaults you can override per mode.
Advanced diagnostics
Expose error logging levels, freeze monitor options, profiling, and developer toggles.
- •Adjust log levels when you need richer diagnostics for support.
- •Enable freeze monitoring and startup tracing if the UI feels sluggish.
- •Use the restore defaults button for a clean slate on every tab.
Power-user workflow
- •Use the search box at the top of the settings pane to jump straight to any control.
- •Changes save instantly, so you can move between tabs without losing your place.
- •Enable advanced mode to unlock custom providers, tool approvals, and granular model defaults.
Heads-upSome settings (for example custom transcription providers) appear only when advanced mode is enabled. The docs call this out on relevant feature pages.
