Messy Markdown. Tidied.
Paste Markdown or open a .md file and get it back consistent: one bullet style, # headings, numbered lists in order, tables lined up, code fenced. What it shows doesn’t change, and Obsidian syntax is left as you typed it.

Or drop a .md file here.
Keep your Markdown notes in Obsidian, with AI that edits them, using SystemSculpt
What it does
Tidy Markdown, same document.
Want to see it formatted? Open it in the Markdown viewer. Building a table from a spreadsheet? Use the Markdown table generator. The SystemSculpt plugin for Obsidian is free to start; pricing shows what the paid plans add.
- One style throughout
- Bullets become one character, underlined headings become # headings, and __bold__ becomes **bold**, _italic_ becomes *italic*.
- Tables lined up
- Columns are padded to line up in plain text, with each column’s alignment kept. Or keep them compact.
- Nothing else touched
- Your words, [[wikilinks]], callouts, ==highlights==, #tags, math and front matter come back exactly as typed.
Questions.
What does the Markdown formatter change?
Only how the Markdown is written. Bullets use one character, headings use #, numbered lists count up from their first number, tables are aligned, indented code is fenced with ```, and runs of blank lines become one. The document shows the same as before.
Is it safe for Obsidian notes?
Yes. Wikilinks, embeds, callouts, ==highlights==, %%comments%%, #tags, $math$ and the front matter at the top are written back exactly as they were, with no backslashes added.
Does it change my words?
No. The text of every paragraph, heading, list item and table cell stays as typed, escapes included. Only the Markdown around it is rewritten.
Why did my list split in two?
In Markdown, switching bullet characters, like - then *, starts a new list. The formatter keeps them as two lists, so they still show as two. Use one character in the original if you meant one list.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The Markdown is formatted in your browser and isn’t uploaded or stored.
Does it cost anything?
No. It’s free, with no account and no sign-up.
