Markdown in. Google Docs formatting out.
Paste Markdown or open a .md file, copy it, and paste into a Google Doc: real headings, lists, tables, links and code, not # and ** symbols. Or download a .docx to upload as a new Doc.

Or drop a .md file here.

Write in Markdown in Obsidian, with AI that edits your notes, using SystemSculpt
What it does
A Google Doc, not a page of symbols.
Need it in Word instead? Use Markdown to Word. Going the other way? Download the Doc as .docx and use Word to Markdown. The SystemSculpt plugin for Obsidian is free to start; pricing shows what the paid plans add.
- Docs headings
- # to ###### become Google Docs’ Heading 1 to 6, so the Doc’s outline and table of contents work.
- Tables and code that hold
- Tables keep their borders and header shading; code keeps a monospace font in a shaded box; ==highlights== stay highlighted.
- Obsidian notes too
- Callouts become shaded boxes with their title, tasks become ☐ and ☑ lines, and wikilinks become their words.
Questions.
How do I paste Markdown into Google Docs with formatting?
Paste or open the Markdown here, choose Copy for Google Docs, then click in your Doc and paste with Ctrl V (⌘ V on a Mac). Headings, bold, lists, tables and links arrive as Docs formatting instead of symbols.
How do I make a new Google Doc from a .md file?
Choose Download .docx to upload, then in Google Docs choose File, Open, Upload and pick the file. Google Docs opens it as a document with its headings, lists, tables and links.
What happens to task lists?
Each task becomes a line starting with ☐, or ☑ when it’s done. Google Docs doesn’t keep pasted checkboxes, so the symbols keep what’s done and what isn’t.
What happens to code blocks and callouts?
A code block becomes a shaded box in Courier New with its line breaks and indents kept. An Obsidian callout becomes a shaded box with its title in bold, coloured by its type.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The formatting is made in your browser and copied to your clipboard. Nothing is sent to SystemSculpt.
Does it cost anything?
No. It’s free, with no account and no sign-up.
