- Clean names
- The 32-character ID Notion adds to every page, file and folder comes off, so Plan 3f9c…e21a.md is Plan.md again.
- Wikilinks and embeds
- Links between pages become [[wikilinks]] and pictures become ![[embeds]] that keep working in Obsidian. Callouts become Obsidian callouts.
- Properties and databases
- A page’s property lines become Obsidian properties. Each database becomes a note with a Markdown table, every row included, linking its pages.
Questions.
How do I export my workspace from Notion?
In Notion, open Settings, then Workspace, General, and choose Export all workspace content. Or open one page’s ••• menu and choose Export. Pick Markdown & CSV, include subpages, and drop the .zip Notion downloads here.
Why does Notion put a long code after every file name?
Notion adds each page’s 32-character ID to its file and folder names so two pages with the same title don’t clash. This converter takes the IDs off and numbers any names that would clash instead.
What happens to databases?
Each database becomes a note with one Markdown table holding every row, and each row’s title links to its page. Notion’s board, calendar and timeline views aren’t in the export, so the table is what carries over.
Markdown & CSV or HTML?
Markdown & CSV is closest to what Obsidian uses and keeps databases. HTML works too: its pages are converted to Markdown with their properties, links and pictures.
Is my export uploaded?
No. The export is read and converted in your browser, and the zip is made there too. Nothing is sent to SystemSculpt.
